Nissan Versa 1.6 the Most Affordable Sedan for Families

Economic crisis is hitting the world pretty hard right now. Every one knows that. Many people around the world are becoming tightfisted when it comes to spending their hard-earned money, which is only natural. So, those who do not have thousands of dollars to spend on a vehicle will be glad to know that Nissan unveiled what could be the most affordable car in the United States – the Nissan Versa 1.6. If you have $10,000 you can already take the Nissan Versa home. Some may think that they’ve hit the jackpot with this car. But are they sure?

Let’s take a look at what this $10,000 car has to offer. It’s up to you to decide whether your $10,000 is worth spending on this unit. But you should know that Nissan has great hopes for this car, and it’s true they have consumers in mind when they developed it. Here are some statements made by Brian Carolin, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing, NNA, “We know that many costumers have done their research, have made the decision to buy a new vehicle, but are concerned about financing and finding the best value.” We want to let them know that if they need a dependable, high-quality, high-value new car, Nissan can help them out right now - with great leases and great financing options.”

The Nissan Versa is a sedan, there’s no other trim. Safety is assured in the Versa making it a good transportation for small families. It garnered top crash-rate ratings given by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Other safety features include six airbags and active head restraints. I think this is the greatest highlight of the Versa.

When you find out its other features you’ll see just how utilitarian it is. It’s equipped with a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 107-horsepower. This is coupled with a standard 5-speed manual transmission. If you want to upgrade it to an automatic, it’s going to cost you $1,000. It has manual windows, door locks, seats that only go forward and back. There’s no cruise control and driver seat height adjustment. And if you like to listen to music while cruisin’ this car can’t give it to you. Nope, it does not have a stereo, but don’t despair, there is pre-wiring for a stereo and four speakers; all you have to do is buy a cheap stereo. If you want anti-lock brakes you have to pay additional $250.

To give you a clearer view of what the new Nissan Versa 1.6 has to offer here’s a list:

  • Versa 1.6 ($10,990) adds A/C; four-speed automatic adds $1,000
  •  ABS package (antilock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist) adds $250
  • Versa 1.6 Base ($9,990) includes five-speed manual transmission, 14-inch wheels, manual mirrors/locks/windows, power steering, four-way adjustable cloth seats, six airbags, active head restraints
  • Destination charge is $695

So, if you go for the enhancements you’re going to spend a total of $12,935. Do you think it’s worth it or would you rather go for something with a higher price tag but with more complete amenities? By the way, the new Versa is going to be out later this month.
